Hurricane Isaac and my folks. . .
My parents live in Florida in a retirement park that has a hurricane shelter. However, the park only allows humans in the shelter. My parents have made reservations at a hotel that accepts pets, in Georgia, in case they have to evacuate due to Hurricane Isaac.

The timeline of hurricane Issac times pretty close to the Tampa Republican convention. It will be ironically the 20th anniversary of hurricane Andrew.
The computer program is a bit inaccurate. The swath of destruction can vary around 240 miles, but as the hurricane nears the accuracy of prediction gets better. It is now a 5 day forecast. Even the Hurricane hitting Cuba is a bit unclear, so yeah it is early but smart for your parents to plan ahead.
@PPhilip - That's what they thought too, they can easily cancel the reservation if they don't need it but better safe than sorry. :)
It will be close. I would advise your parents to decide when the Hurricane is in Cuba to make their move. If they wait too long the traffic will be too hectic and they might not make it out.
Hopefully you will help them to stay updated. Even better that you are there physically but that might be a hassle for you.
I hope they will be OK
best of luck to your parents
I suspect that all will be well.
